Lake Land College expands Basic Nursing Assistant Program to Pana

Lake Land College is now enrolling students for its Basic Nursing Assistant Program in Pana! Classes begin Aug. 25 and will be held at the Lake Land College Western Region Center in Pana.
“We’re excited to expand our course offerings to another town within the Lake Land District,” said Linda Kimball, program coordinator. “Having a BNA certificate is a great way to access local jobs as there is a very high demand for this kind of work.”
The Basic Nursing Assistant Program is a one semester, eight-credit-hour certificate program approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).The program includes 95 hours of theory/classroom and 40 hours of clinical practice. This program provides instruction in basic nursing skills in theory, laboratory, and clinical settings including basic anatomy, medical terminology, communication skills, safety, infection control and patient rights.
This course contains substantial information on Alzheimer’s and dementia resident/patient care and emphasizes communication and coping mechanisms fundamental to working with this patient population. The curriculum also includes proper management of resident/patient hygiene and mobility, and taking vital signs.
