Cindy Phipps honored with LLC’s Faculty Association Outstanding Service Award
May 14, 2014
Cindy Phipps, Lake Land College accounting instructor and accounting program coordinator, will be presented with the 2014 Faculty Association Outstanding Service Award at Lake Land College’s upcoming commencement ceremony.
“Cindy provides service to the college in many different capacities,” said Kathy Black, business division chair and award nominator. “She has served on numerous college committees during her 19 year career at Lake Land College. She serves as a steering committee co-chair for the current HLC self-study and in the last several years has acted as the sole evaluator of Business Division adjunct instructors in the classroom, spending countless hours visiting their classes, writing evaluations, discussing those evaluations with the instructors, and acting as a mentor to shape and improve their instruction.”
Phipps’s colleagues describe her as a positive example for other faculty members, who has selflessly invested much time and work while serving in a variety of capacities for the college. Phipps also has been an active member of Eastern Illinois Business Education Association and Illinois Business Education Association (EIBEA) for many years, having served many leadership roles in EIBEA including vice-president and treasurer.
“Cindy is a valuable team player in her division, always quick to volunteer for additional tasks,” said Black. “She is positive and friendly with her colleagues—always upbeat, smiling, helpful, kind, and even-tempered—and most importantly—always the consummate professional.”
“I am very blessed to have a career that I love and to work at a college I am very proud of with people who are dedicated and committed to serving others,” said Phipps.
The award will be presented during the college’s 47th annual commencement ceremony on Friday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Field House. With earning the Outstanding Faculty Award, Phipps has also been chosen to be the Lake Land College nomination for the Illinois Community College Trustee Association “Outstanding Service Award.” The award ceremony will be held in Chicago this summer.
