The State of Illinois legislature recently made changes for accepting Board of Trustee petitions and objections.

The new dates and times for accepting petitions are as follows:

Monday, Dec. 17- Friday, Dec. 21 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 26 from 3 – 5 p.m.

The dates for filing objections are as follows:

Monday, Jan. 2 – Friday, Jan. 4 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Monday, Jan. 7- Tuesday, Jan. 8 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

File all materials at the office of Lana Fuller, executive assistant to the president at Lake Land College, which is located in the administrative wing of the Luther Student Center on campus in Mattoon.

Two seats on the seven-member board will be filled at the April 9 consolidated election. They are six-year terms for the seats currently held by Carol Schramm, Pana and Tom Niebrugge, Dieterich. Persons elected on April 9 will begin their terms at a special board meeting to be held in April 2013.

Nominating petitions require the signatures of at least 50 registered voters and should be filed with the office of the executive assistant. The candidate may file in person, by mail or by a representative. Each board candidate must also submit a statement of candidacy and a receipt indicating he or she has filed a statement of economic interest with the Coles County Clerk.

For more information, contact Fuller at 217-234-5222.
