Lake Land College to host Mobile Veterans Center

Lake Land College will host a Mobile Veterans Center on Wednesday, Sept. 2 from 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on the Lake Land College campus in Mattoon. College students who are veterans as well as community members who are veterans are encouraged to come participate in the activities the center offers.

Shimkus announces $1.15 million TRiO award for Lake Land College

At an event on campus, Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois-15) announced recently that Lake Land College has been selected by the U.S. Department of Education to receive a TRiO Student Support Services grant award, in the total amount of $1.15 million over the next five years. This is the third, five-year grant cycle award for the college.

From accounting to art and everything in between, there are opportunities for students pursuing a degree or for those interested in enhancing their skillset for personal enrichment. That’s why at Lake Land, area residents age 65 or older are eligible to receive a senior citizen tuition waiver.
