Lake Land College Library to present National Library of Medicine’s traveling exhibit: From DNA to Beer: Harnessing Nature in Medicine and Industry

The Lake Land College Library will host the National Library of Medicine’s most recent traveling exhibit, From DNA to Beer: Harnessing Nature in Medicine and Industry, throughout the month of January.


Lake Land College Broadcasting Club donates to local charities

The Broadcasting Club at Lake Land College recently collected 1,064 pounds of non-perishable food items and donated it to the Mattoon Community Food Center. 


Lake Land College students place at Broadcasters Association Student Silver Dome Awards

This year, Lake Land College radio and television broadcast students brought home several awards, including a first place award, from the annual Illinois Broadcasters Association Student Silver Dome Awards held recently at Illinois State University.


Lake Land College Kluthe Center students receive foundation scholarships

Two students studying at the Lake Land College Kluthe Center in Effingham have recently been awarded scholarships on behalf of the Lake Land College Foundation. 


Lake Land College offers “Essentials Oils for Whole Health” seminar for massage therapists and estheticians

The Lake Land College Office of Community and Professional Programs will offer a seminar entitled “Essentials Oils for Whole Health” (CNC-020-40015) on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Kluthe Center, 1204 Network Center Blvd., Effingham, in room 104.

Spring semester is right around the corner, so it’s that time of year to enroll for classes at Lake Land College!


Lake Land College ag students perform well at State PAS Conference

Lake Land College Post-Secondary Agricultural Student Organization (PAS) students participated recently at the Fall PAS Conference in Bloomington, Ill. Forty Lakers attended and participated in the contest, which attracted a total of 250 students from across the state. Lakers competed against 14 other agriculture colleges and universities from across the state in various specialist areas via testing, problem solving and presentations.


Lake Land College to offer Microsoft Excel classes in December

The Lake Land College office of Community and Professional Programs will offer three levels of Microsoft Excel classes in the month of December.  Whether you need to start at the beginning or just brush up on your skills, there is a class for you.


Community invited to Lake Land College Pathways Auction

The community is invited to attend the sixth annual Lake Land College Pathways Auction held Dec. 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Webb Hall, room 081 on campus.


Prospective students invited to Laker Visit Day Dec. 4

Visit Lake Land College and find out all the college offers at its upcoming Laker Visit Day. The event will be held Friday, Dec. 4 with activities starting in the Luther Student Center lobby at 9 a.m. and running until noon. 


Lake Land College offers “Threading and Sugaring” seminar for cosmetologists and estheticians

The Lake Land College Office of Community and Professional Programs will offer a seminar entitled “Threading and Sugaring” on Monday, Dec. 14, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the West Building, room 128 on the Lake Land College campus, 5001 Lake Land Blvd., Mattoon. 


Lake Land College awarded geothermal incentive grant

The Lake Land College Board of Trustees last night accepted a geothermal incentive grant in the amount of $50,000 through the GeoAlliance Program between the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives and the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation. 


Lake Land College dental hygiene students receive Fletcher Scholarship

This fall, two Lake Land College second-year dental hygiene students were awarded the Linda Lee Roberts Fletcher Memorial Scholarship. During a surprise visit by Lake Land College President Josh Bullock, Melissa Livesay of Paris and Brittni York of Decatur learned they were the recipients of this scholarship. 


Lake Land College Foundation holds annual meeting, voting unanimously to fund some Adult Ed programs

The Lake Land College Foundation Board of Directors recently held its annual meeting and celebrated raising $371,544 in annual funds and awarding nearly $287,678 in total scholarships to Lake Land College students for the 2014-2015 academic year. The addition of last year’s funding effort puts the Lake Land College Foundation’s total assets at $10.8 million. The board has set a fundraising goal of $430,000 in annual funds for the current fiscal year.


Lake Land College accepting nominations for the 2016 Lake Land College Distinguished Service Award

Lake Land College is now accepting nominations for the 2016 Lake Land College Distinguished Service Award. This is the 36th year for the Distinguished Service Award, which is designed for individuals whose exemplary service and contributions have benefited Lake Land College or its affiliated organizations such as the Lake Land College Foundation, college divisions or student organizations.
