Lake Land College accepting applications for Massage Therapy Program
July 23, 2014
The Lake Land College Massage Therapy Program is accepting applications for the fall semester. It’s not too late to register for the program and be on your way to a new career!
The massage therapy curriculum is designed to prepare students in all areas of massage. Massage techniques and bodywork, anatomy, professionalism with clients, and business practices are included in the curriculum.
Housed at the Lake Land College Kluthe Center in Effingham, there are two options available for completion of the Massage Therapy Program. The first option is a part-time night program lasting five semesters that allows for students to maintain full-time employment while taking classes part-time. Classes in this program begin each fall semester. The second option is an accelerated full-time day program lasting three semesters. Classes in the accelerated program begin each spring semester.
According to program alumna, Tonya Ealy, Ashmore, being a massage therapist fits into her life well. While she works part-time at a bank in Brocton, holding her massage therapy license allows her to supplement her income at times convenient for her. She said that before massage therapy, she never considered working from home, but that it has been a great addition to her professional life.
“This is a career that will keep my brain working well into the future,” she said. “There is so much to learn and I am so excited to learn all that there is in the world of therapeutic massage. Every day I wake up and have a sense of new found excitement. I can’t help but think it’s because I went back to school and found something I was so passionate about.”
