Tips for Parents

Destination College is a great program for students wishing to pursue postsecondary education.  We will encourage them to complete high school and continue on to a college of their choice.  The Destination College program is open to middle and high school students within the area.  We work with them on a monthly basis to improve their skills to help them reach their goals.  We strive to make their dreams come true.

Curriculum
Monthly Club Meetings

Each month has a different topic! We get together at your high school and lead games and fun activities that follow our topic. What will next month's topic be?

College Visits

Have you ever been on a college campus? Each year, Destination College provides several opportunities to explore campuses in Illinois and neighboring states.

ACT Prep Classes

Are you prepared to take the ACT? In March, TRiO Destination College offers ACT classes on Saturdays. This year, they will be March 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd. Be sure to sign up early to get a spot!

Class Advisement

Do you know what Classes are required to be fully prepared for college? DC advisors will review your transcripts with you to see what classes you still need to take in high school to be prepared for college. Here's a clue:

  • English - 4 years
  • Math - 3 years, including Algebra 1 and another higher level course such as Algebra II, geometry or data analysis and statistics
  • Science - 3 years, including at least two courses from biology, chemistry and physics
