Using the Research Tool in Office XP 2003

Go to Tools > Research... on the Tools menu.

Or on the Standard Toolbar click the Research button, either of these options open the Research task pane in your document on the left side. Or you can ALT + Left click any word in your document to open the Research task pane.

All Reference Books is the category you are searching in.

Figure 3:

Click down pointing arrow to change search category. Select either entire category or individual resource.

Enter text search words in Search For box. Then hit the left arrow to begin the search results.

Then the results are returned in the task pane grouped by different resources from the search category. Click on a link to open the article in a Web browser window.

Figure 6:

The Research task pane goes with you o the Web. In the Research task oane on the left you can still see the other links that were returned by your search query. You can either click another in the pane to see more information, close or minimize to return to your workspace.

The Research task pane works the same in Excel and PowerPoint.
