What is Blackboard?

Blackboard Learning System CE is an Internet-based program that gives you access to your instructor and the other students taking an online or enhanced course. The instructor will most likely post a syllabus, calendar, lectures, assignments, and assessments in Blackboard Learning System. Please note each course will be different and your instructor may or may not use tools covered in the tutorial.

Note: The Blackboard and WebCT companies merged in October 2005 . During the time of the merger, Lake Land College was in the process of upgrading from WebCT 4 to WebCT 6. Once the merger was complete WebCT 6 was renamed and is now called Blackboard Learning System CE 6. Some instructors may still refer to the new system as WebCT 6. This tutorial will refer to the new system as Blackboard.
