In 1990, she obtained an Executive MBA degree from the Northwestern Kellogg School of Business in Chicago, while working at J.M. Schultz Investment Co., a company founded by her father.

During this same time, Deters co-founded Vantage Technology while also taking the leadership role in J.M. Schultz Investment Co. Three years later, she became the CEO of Vantage Technology.

As Vantage Technology grew for the next 18 years, it soon became clear that while its original vision remained the same, the full gamut of cataract surgery outsourcing services offered expanded their mission even more. Therefore, the company name was changed to Vantage Outsourcing.

Today, Vantage Outsourcing is a nationwide service, providing clients with state-of-the-art ophthalmic equipment, trained ophthalmic Surgical Coordinator technicians, and other cataract surgery supplies and products. Deters is also the founder of 7D & Associates LLC, a consulting and management service company for ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) across the United States.

In 2002, Deters built a multi-specialty surgery center in Central Missouri. As co-owner and manager, she grew this into a successful business, along with 4 physician partners with specialties in general surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, and gastroenterology. In 2011, Deters negotiated the sale of this center at a high premium to a regional hospital group.

In 1997, INC Magazine presented Deters with the prestigious entrepreneur award for the “Fastest Growing Small Business of the Year.” The national publication recognized her leadership abilities again in the October 2002 issue with a feature entitled, “The Fully Managed Family.”

Most recently she has been recognized by ASC Communications as one of the “Top People To Know” in the ASC industry. She has also been nominated as “Woman To Know” in the ASC industry.

In the face of healthcare reform, Ms. Deters has strategically positioned Vantage Outsourcing as the leading cataract outsourcing partner focusing on cost containment, reduced capital investment and increased OR efficiencies.
