First group of Student Ambassadors chosen (October 15, 1994): Selected initially to “serve as official representatives of the College,” according to Jon Van Dyke, the program’s first advisor, Student Ambassadors quickly became a meaningful part of Student Services’ efforts to recruit and retain students. During the first year, 13 students were selected, all of whom were required to not only be the “face” of LLC at college fairs and high school visits, but also meet standards regarding GPA, interview skills, and written qualifications. Linda VonBehrens served as co-advisor and Jan Storm served as the program assistant until 2002.
