David Schultz becomes LLC’s 3rd President (August 1, 1984): David Schultz was named president at a press conference on May 29th earlier that year, with a start date two months later. He had been one of four finalists—two of which were internal candidates, Bill Rich (Dean of Career and Continuing Education) and Roger Barry (Dean of Arts and Sciences)—after a search was conducted by the Board with assistance from a University of Illinois consultant, Ernest F. Anderson. Before coming to LLC, Schultz had served as the vice president at Lincoln Land College, the assistant to the president at Muskegan Community College (Michigan), and a high ranking administrator for both Central Michigan University and Michigan State.
