The day is Wednesday, January 12 in the year 1966.

Eastern Illinois Area Junior College Steering Committee presents results of a public opinion survey and produces resolution to create a junior college in the district (Jan. 12, 1966): John Yantis, Chairman of the Feasibility Committee, presented the results of a questionnaire that had been distributed to over 11,000 students and their parents in the thirteen school districts in the area. Shared formally to newspapers later that same year (Aug. 4), Yantis’ report clearly indicated an interest by the public for vocational technical programs and training for high school graduates. The resounding support for the idea of a junior college in the area compelled Virgil H. Judge and others to begin immediately drafting a formal resolution to bring a school to the area.
