The Public Junior College Act passed by the Illinois General Assembly. (July 15, 1965): Recognizing the need for affordable higher education, occupational and technical training, and adult retraining opportunities, this key legislation passed. It mandated that junior colleges not only offer transfer courses, but also terminal programs for students wanting to improve existing skills.
