1st Energy Innovation Conference takes place (February 27, 2008): The successful two-day conference was popular with many different groups, including citizens from the community interested in learning more about practical alternative energy options, middle school and high school students from the district competing for awards, and academics exploring curriculum development for their programs. It also required the commitment and leadership of many different campus employees, like Kelly Allee, Michael Beavers, Jeri Beel, Diana Glosser, Scott Rhine, Ron Sanderson, Dr. David Turnbull, Linda Von Behren, and Jeff White. Funding for the event was secured from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to, the University of Illinois Extension program, a grant from Illinois’ Keep Warm Illinois initiative, Lake Land College, KCSummers, General Electric, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
