Dr. William L. Podesta Drive dedication (March 18, 1999): Acting on a Board of Trustees’ resolution passed four months earlier, the road encircling the campus was named in honor of a local citizen who had volunteered a great deal of his time, energy, and resources to LLC throughout his life. Dr. Podesta’s generosity to the school included gift of land, assistance in creating the Dental Hygiene program, and financial gifts to be used for student scholarships. Prior to a dedication reception, speeches were given by Jim Bennett (member of the LLC Foundation Board of Directors) and Dr. Greg Yount (Podesta’s friend and school supporter) and the Drive’s ribbon was cut by two of Podesta’s daughters (Mrs. Willie Podesta-Young) and Mrs. Toni Galbreath) and one grandchild (Mrs. Margaret Podesta-Young).
