Dr. Robert K. Luther named College’s 4th President (July 1, 1988): Returning to the area after serving as president of Columbia-Greene Community College in Hudson, New York (1984-87), Dr. Luther, a Charleston, Illinois native, earned his doctorate from the University of Michigan. Described as an experienced, “politically astute” leader with “high standards” and a “respect for faculty,” the College’s 4th president wanted to emphasize quality education, student involvement in decision-making processes, and the relationship of the College with its community partners.
