Lake Land College named one of the ‘Healthiest Companies in America’ for second year
June 17, 2014
Lake Land College was recently honored as one of the Healthiest Companies in America by Interactive Health, a health and wellness agency that works with organizations to develop health risk assessments and solutions. This is the second year the college has been awarded this honor.
The honor is given to companies that achieve outstanding and quantifiable results as part of the Interactive Health outcomes-based health management program. The 67 honorees of the award are organizations nationwide that attained a company-wide low health risk status while achieving high employee participation in their wellness program. The selection process analyzes clinical test results demonstrating improved employee health across an index of key health indicators
“The college has made a commitment to making health and wellness a priority,” explained Andrea Imes, benefits coordinator for the college.
Through the voluntary program, Lake Land employees receive health assessments, which identify health risks, and work with healthcare professionals to create an individualized health and wellness plan.
“Overall, since we have started this partnership with Interactive Health, many employees of the college have reached health goals such as weight loss, cholesterol management and eating a healthier diet,” said Imes. “It’s been very beneficial to everyone.”
For 2013, participants in the wellness program at Lake Land saw an 88 percent improvement in blood pressure levels, 75 percent improvement of cholesterol levels, 71 percent improvement in glucose levels and 21 percent decrease in tobacco use.
