Lake Land College accepting applications for Honors Program
From criminal investigations to creating artificial gravity, members of the Lake Land College Honors Program have the opportunity to conduct research projects that could challenge even NASA’s thinking.
The purpose of the Honors Program is to provide enriched learning opportunities for outstanding students through honors courses and the opportunity to participate in independent study for honors credit in specialized areas of study. So, if you’re interested in taking the next step in your academic career, the Lake Land College Honors Program can’t wait to receive your application for the 2013-2014 school year.
Requirements for the Honors Program focus on academic talents and career goals. To be accepted in the program, students must meet the criteria.
Entering as a freshman, students must:
• Pursue a college transfer major at Lake Land College; and
• Meet two of the following:
o Graduate in the top 10 percent of his or her high school class;
o Have a composite ACT score of 25 or higher; or
o Have a composite 3.5 GPA on a 4-point scale or equivalent.
Current Lake Land students must have a GPA of 3.5 or above after the completion of at least 12 semester hours of Lake Land transfer classes and be enrolled in a college transfer program.
Eligible students are encouraged to download and submit an application, which can be found at http://www.lakeland.cc.il.us/as/hnr/apply.cfm.
In addition to completing the application, entering freshmen must submit:
• A copy of his or her high school transcript
• A copy of his or her ACT record
• Two letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors or principal
Current Lake Land Students must also submit the following with the application:
• A copy of his or her Lake Land College transcript
• A letter of recommendation from a Lake Land College instructor.
