Lake Land College offers intersession, one-stop registration for summer and fall classes

By following just a few simple steps, you can register for classes and be on your way to achieving a higher education through Lake Land College. Registration begins April 8, with summer classes beginning June 10. Fall semester classes begin Aug. 22.

The college is offering Intersession courses for students who wish to pick up a class between the spring and summer terms. Intersession runs from May 21 to June 6 and students can expect to spend a total of 13.5 hours per day both in class and at home doing homework for a three-hour class. Students who enroll in Intersession courses have to pay for the class as financial aid (grants and scholarships) will not be available during Intersession. Payment will be due June 28. A 3-hour class for in-district students will be about $315.

There are several ways to register for Intersession, summer or fall classes at Lake Land. Go online at www.lakelandcollege.cc.il.us  and look for the “Admissions/Get Started” link on the home page, or call 237-234-5434.

The college will also hold one stop registration evenings throughout the district. The dates and times are as follows:

Mattoon: May 7 – On campus – Degree- or certificate-seeking students complete placement testing at 4:30 p.m., with orientation following. Walk-in counseling available until 7 p.m.

Marshall: May 7 –Eastern Region Center – Degree- or certificate-seeking students complete placement testing at 1:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m., with orientation following. Walk-in counseling available from 3:30 – 7 p.m.

Effingham: May 8 – Kluthe Center for Higher Education and Technology – Degree- or certificate-seeking students complete placement testing at 1:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m., with orientation following. Walk-in counseling available from 3:30 – 7 p.m.

Extended registration hours will be held on campus June 6 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

For Intersession and other courses that are three to seven weeks in length, students must register prior to the first course meeting. Students who attend the first meeting of the class and decide not to continue in the class, can drop on that first day and not be required to pay for the class. Students who drop after the first day will be responsible for full payment.

For summer and fall courses that are eight weeks in length or longer, students may add courses to their schedule through the first two instructional days of the semester or module.  Students may add an evening class prior to the second class meeting.
