Lake Land College to host Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholar

World renowned percussionist and performer Rocky Maffit will present “A Life of Rhythm” on Monday, March 25 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Lake Land College Theater on campus in Mattoon.

As part of the Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholars Speakers Bureau, Maffit  will draw on body percussion, voice and an amazing variety of world percussion instruments to draw out the “inner drummer” that lives in us all. The performance blends cultural history, world geography, percussion, song and fun to absorb and engage the audience in a world of rhythm and beauty.

The show employs a large amount of audience participation and is child friendly. This free program, which is open to the public, is made possible in part by an award from the Illinois Humanities Council.

For more information about the performer, visit http://www.rockymaffit.com. For more information about the performance at the college, contact Vivian Bales at vbales@lakeland.cc.il.us or 217-234-5087.
