Lake Land College welcomes first presidential scholars to campus this fall

Lake Land College has awarded 142 students in the surrounding communities with the Presidential Scholarship for the 2015-2016 school year. This monetary award is offered to district high school graduates who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance in high school. The scholarship is good for two years with a value up to $4,625 per year or $9,250 total.


Students gain advanced credentials through alternative high school education program at Lake Land College amidst funding cuts

For high school students Whitney Brown, 17, and Alexandra Santrock, 16, attending Mattoon High School presented certain challenges that they struggled to overcome.


Lake Land College, HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital work to reinstate recycling bins at Kluthe Center

Earlier this month, Lake Land College closed the free recycling bins located at the Kluthe Center in Effingham as a cost saving measure for the college. For many years, area organizations have funded recycling bins for community use, such as the bins located at Lake Land College’s Kluthe Center. Due to shrinking budgets over the past couple of years, those recycling drop-off sites have closed one-by-one leaving Lake Land College one of very few recycling options available for the community.
