Lake Land College cosmetology students learn from industry professional
March 31, 2014
Students studying cosmetology, nail technology and esthetics at Lake Land College recently participated in a special class led by John Hauk, artistic director for Entity Beauty, based out of Chicago.
“Bringing in industry professionals like John shows our students the depth of this industry,” explained Amy Duckett, cosmetology instructor. “It gives them a peek into the real world of the industry and shows them there are opportunities beyond the salon such as marketing, product development and sales, for example.”
During the three-hour class demonstration, students were exposed to a variety of nail art techniques and products.
“The most important thing when trying new things and exploring all that the nail tech industry has to offer is to understand the product,” explained Hauk to the students. “You have to understand the chemical components of the products and then the behavior of the product to ensure your customers are happy with their nail enhancement.”
Hauk is an award winning nail artist, educator and industry executive who has traveled the world instructing students.
“Our students are so excited to meet John and sit in on his class,” said Peggy Strange, instructor and program director. “For him to come to Lake Land is an invaluable experience.”
