March 28, 2014
The Technology Division at Lake Land College is hosting two special events this spring and invites students and community members alike to explore all that the division has to offer.
The Technology Careers Open House is scheduled for Friday, April 11 from 2 - 4 p.m. and Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to noon. In this hands-on open house, participants will explore the premier technology offered through Lake Land College and meet alumni who are working in technology related fields.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about renewable energy and wind technology, automotive technology, welding, 3D design and printing technology, electronics, electrical and mechanical systems, surveying, concrete and asphalt testing, and building construction, to name a few. Additionally, four participants will earn a three-credit-hour tuition waiver for attending the event. For more information about the Technology Careers Open House, contact Tim VanDyke at 217-234-5313 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Non registration is required and this event is free and open to the public.
On Saturday, April 26, the Technology Division is hosting a community workshop, Women with Tools, from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the West Building, room 115. Presented in coordination with Home Depot, this workshop offers women the opportunity to become more familiar with the proper use of hand tools often used for home improvement and basic car maintenance.
Sessions will cover basic automobile maintenance, caulking and weatherization, basic electricity and special projects like making your own rain barrel. In fact, participants will have the opportunity to purchase a limited number of rain barrels for $50, with all proceeds going to the Renewable Energy Club at Lake Land.
All materials and lunch will be provided. Participants will also leave the workshop with a basic tool kit and have the opportunity to win prizes throughout the day. Registration is required and limited. The cost of the workshop is $10. To register for the workshop, visit www.lakelandcollege.edu/learn and select the “Technology” link.
