Lake Land College receives National Safety Council's Defensive Driving Course Trend Setter Award

The National Safety Council recently announced that Lake Land College is an award winner of the 2012 Defensive Driving Course Trend Setter Award. During the National Safety Council's Congress and Exposition in Chicago, Leslie Partlow, traffic safety program specialist, accepted the honor.

As a local Defensive Driving Training Center, Lake Land College provides a four-hour defensive driving course for drivers who have received a traffic citation and are eligible to complete the program to avoid a conviction on their driving record.  Classes are held in Effingham, Mattoon, Charleston or Sullivan. The course is also available online.

“This course offers those who have received a traffic citation and are not required to appear in court, a way to enhance their driver’s safety skills,” said Partlow. “It’s a great tool, which reduces future citations and increases safety on the roadways.”

The Trend Setter Award is presented to those defensive driving course training centers that are constantly striving to achieve a high status of performance. The National Safety Council's Defensive Driving Course, the first name in life saving defensive driving courses, began in 1964. With over 1 0,000 instructors worldwide, the Defensive Driving Courses have graduated over 70,000,000 drivers.
