Register now for Lake Land College’s Energy Innovation Conference
Registration for Lake Land College’s annual Energy Innovation Conference is now open! This day-long event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6 and will be held at the West Building on Lake Land College’s campus in Mattoon. This event is free and open to the public. Advanced registration for the conference is underway. To register for the conference, visit www.energyconf.org and select the “Register Now” icon in the upper-right-hand corner. Registration on the day of the conference will open at 7:30 a.m. with presentations running from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The conference will host various breakout sessions related to sustainable energy practices including geothermal heating, solar and wind energy, technician and job training, sustainable industry information and projections, bio-mass, sustainability and green businesses. This year’s conference will also expand its focus to include non-energy related sustainable practices such as landscaping and paperless marketing. Also, electronics recycling will be available in the North West parking lot near the West Building road from 8 am to 3:30 pm the day of the conference. Any and all electronics will be accepted. The keynote speaker for the upcoming conference is Bob Dixson, mayor of Greensburg, Kan. Dixson took office as Mayor of Greensburg in 2008 and he is leading the way in the process of rebuilding the community after a 2007 tornado demolished the town. Sustainable building, renewable energy and "green" technologies are the cornerstones of the recovery of Greensburg. The conference is still accepting registration for session presenters and conference vendors. To register as a presenter or demonstrator, at no cost, contact David Turnbull at (217) 234-5419 or register for free by clicking on the “speaker” tab on the conference Web site. If you could like to feature your company or organization as a vendor at the conference, contact Charlie Bovard at (217) 238-8260. New to this year’s annual Energy Innovation Conference at Lake Land College is the opportunity for community members to meet the conference’s keynote speaker at a special Meet and Greet Reception, held Tuesday, March 5 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at KC Summers in Mattoon. For more information about the conference, visit www.energyconf.org, or for general inquiries regarding vendors and presenters, email eic@lakeland.cc.il.us.
