Save the date: Lake Land College sets date for annual energy conference
Are you interested in reducing your energy consumption? Do you want to take steps toward decreasing your carbon footprint for a healthier planet? Or maybe you’re an avid do-it-yourself fan and could use some pointers for your next project? If this is the case, the sixth annual Energy Innovation Conference is for you! Lake Land College’s annual Energy Innovation Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, 2013. This event is free and open to the public. The conference will host various breakout sessions related to sustainable energy practices including geothermal heating, solar and wind energy, technician and job training, sustainable industry information and projections, bio-mass, sustainability and green businesses. This year’s conference will once again include sessions that focus on non-energy related sustainable practices such as gardening, landscaping and paperless marketing. Conference topics are designed to introduce consumers to sustainable practices in addition to meeting the interests of contractors, educators, business owners, facility managers and farmers. The keynote speaker for the upcoming conference is Bob Dixson, mayor of Greensburg, Kan. Dixson took office as Mayor of Greensburg in 2008 and he is leading the way in the process of rebuilding the community after a 2007 tornado demolished the town. Sustainable building, renewable energy and "green" technologies are the cornerstones of the recovery of Greensburg. Advanced registration for the conference begins Monday, Dec. 3. To register for the conference in advance, visit www.energyconf.org. Registration on the day of the conference will open at 7:45 a.m. with presentations running from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The conference will also feature a high school energy fair and a student film short competition. Additionally, the conference is still accepting registration for session presenters and conference vendors. To register as a presenter or demonstrator, at no cost, contact David Turnbull at (217) 234-5419. If you could like to feature your company or organization as a vendor at the conference, contact Charlie Bovard at (217) 238-8260 or register for free by clicking on the sponsor/vendor tab on the conference Web site. For more information about the conference, visit www.energyconf.org, or for general inquiries regarding vendors and presenters, email eic@lakeland.cc.il.us.
