Program Options

Cosmetology Program

Entrance into the program is accepted Fall and Spring Semesters, following a screening process. The major focus in the program is hair education; however, training for skin and nail care is also important. A total of 43 semester hours, or 1,500 clock hours is required for completion of the program. After graduation, students are required to take a written Illinois state board examination to obtain their license. Employment can be obtained in salons, spas and many industry related professional settings.

Cosmetolgy Teacher Program

Individuals must possess an active cosmetology license and have completed a minimum of one year of work experience, in a salon, just prior to entering the program. Required classes, as well as electives, are structured to prepare individuals in the teaching profession. At completion of the program, which is 29 semester credit hours, the student is required to take the Illinois state board examination to receive an instructor’s license.

Nail Technology

Students can enroll in this evening program during the Fall Semester. The class meets three nights per week from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The program is 8 semester hours in length. Instruction is provided in all areas of manicuring, pedicuring and artificial nails. Upon graduation, the students are required to take the Illinois state board examination to obtain their license to work in a salon or spa.

Esthetics

Enrollment into this 37 credit hour program is accepted in the Fall Semester. Intense training is provided in a variety of skin treatments, procedures, machine usage and spa services. Following successful completion of the program, students are required to take the Illinois state board examination. Employment can be obtained in salons, spas, medical facilities and spa related industries.
