Lake Land College Business & Computer Contest
Each spring Lake Land College hosts approximately 150 students from 20 or more area high schools for its annual High School Business & Computer Contest. The contest, which is sponsored by the Lake Land College Business Division, the Tech Prep Program, and the Lake Land College Club IT, is typically held on a Friday in April on the Lake Land College campus. Students compete in hands-on activities in the following areas: accounting, general business & current events, desktop publishing, Microsoft Excel, internet & web page design concepts, internet treasure hunt, keyboarding, proofreading, & Microsoft Word.
Participants receive a free T-shirt and lunch. Awards are presented to the top five student participants in each contest category and to the top three overall schools at a special ceremony in the Lake Land College Theater at the conclusion of the day.
Kathy Black, contest coordinator says “The contest is an excellent opportunity for area High School students to demonstrate their business and computer skills in a friendly and fun competitive environment. Business and computer skills are essential to being successful in the working world and it is nice to have so many talented students together to show what they can do. There is a real feeling of excitement during the awards ceremony at the end of the day.”
