AED 024

Students will develop basic skills in keyboarding techniques for typewriters or microcomputers. Emphasis is placed on keyboarding techniques, proofreading, and correcting errors. (Repeatable 2 Times)

This course engages students in the study of basic math concepts and operations as applied to practical problems in the workplace. Computational problems will address specific needs. (Repeatable 3 Times)

Study of grammar basics as an aid to developing and writing compositions. Emphasis placed on punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph development and spelling. Students are required to read one novel and read and review 4 magazine/newspaper articles. (Repeatable 2 Times)

Continuation of Communication Skills I. Students will read one novel, read and review 4 magazine articles, as well as write persuasive, narrative and expository compositions. Students will begin a study of poetry, both classical and modern. Selections from traditional poets, as well as modern songwriters as poets, will be examined. Students will read and review poetry as well as write expository, narrative, and persuasive compositions. (Repeatable 2 Times)

Students will understand the Federalist system of government and its roots, including the study of documents vital to this system of government. Students will be required to pass the United States Constitution and the Illinois Constitution exams. A unit of local representative government will be included. (Repeatable 2 Times)
