Figuring Grade Point Average

A student’s academic standing at the College is determined by a grade point average (GPA) that can be figured by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of semester hours attempted. The semester grade point average represent the average of the student’s grades for only one semester. The cumulative grade point average represents the average of the grades of all courses the student has taken at Lake Land College only. Only grades for courses at the .040 level or above are used to compute grade point average.

Composition C 2 3 6
Algebra C 2 5 10
Life Science B 3 4 12
Chemistry D 1 4 4
Total     16 32
32 / 16 = 2.0 Grade Point Average
